Ethical and Unethical issues in Disciplines of Management

Business Ethics 







Business ethics also known as Corporate ethics is a form of practical or skilled ethics, that inspects ethical glitches or difficulties that can ascend in a business environment. It harms(smears) to all aspects of business conduct and is applicable to the conduct of individuals and all organizations. These ethics are created from individuals or from permitted system. These values, ethical and unethical practices are the principles that guide a business to achieve the goal and sustain in the market.



In a nutshell Business ethics is about…

.Dealing, Association, Affairs, Contacts etc.
.Stressed to develop a well-informed ethics.
.Being true to the idea of who we are and what we work for.
.Having the daring to search difficult questions.


WHY BE ETHICAL?


People like to play devil's advocate and ask why they should be ethical. After all, sometimes doing what's ethical comes at a personal cost and comes from within. We cannot deny ethics question. We think and act accordingily to ethical judgement all the time, whether we want it the same way or not.
It is concerned with  an individual  judgement about right and wrong aspect. Decisions taken within an organisation may be made by individuals or groups, but whoever makes them will be influenced by the culture of the company. The decision to behave ethically shows the moral value; employees must decide what they think is the right course of action. This may involve rejecting the route that would lead to the biggest short-term profit.

ETHICS



Ethics is based on well-founded standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness.
Ethics provides a framework for answering these questions well. It allows us to be consistent in our judgement, provide reasons for our beliefs and to critically examine opinions. Most importantly, ethics allows us to act in a manner that presents with a set of core values and principles




 

ETHICS IN HUMAN RESOURCE

Human resource management is about manpower planning and development related activities in an organization. Moreover it is that branch of management where ethics really matter much,  since it concerns human issues specially those of compensation, development, industrial relations and health and safety issues.







ETHICAL ISSUES IN HUMAN RESOURCES

Cash and compensation plans: issues pertaining to the salaries and the annual incentive plans etc. For example,HR managers can suggest reward. While these suggestions may be based on a salary range for each position, ethical dilemmas arises when we need to differentiate employees having same skills and knowledge on the basis of rewards we give to them.

Performance appraisal- HR managers evaluate the performance of employees according to their personal expectation and if the employee fails to meet the HR managers expectation he/she will not be promoted or evaluated well.

UNETHICAL ISSUES IN HUMAN RESOURCES



Mistreating company time: Whether it is covering for someone who shows up late or changing a time sheet, misusing company time tops the list. This category includes knowing that one of your co-workers is conducting personal business on company time.

Rude behavior: Too many workplaces are filled with managers and supervisors who use their position and power to misconduct or hurt the sentiments of others by their actions and words which leads of job dissatisfaction




ETHICS IN MARKETING 

When one starts a company, either online or in real life, many have hopes of striking it rich. however, not everyone wants to make money honestly using hard work, not everyone has what it takes to be successful solely through ethical marketing practices.

ETHICAL ISSUES IN MARKETING


1. Information or data collected from respondents should not used for any other purpose. 
2. Researcher should not force any respondent for answers
3. Protection of data or confidentiality of data
4. In case of personal or sensitive questions, researcher should give time to respondents to think about it ,and refuse to participate in study. 


UNETHICAL ISSUES IN MARKETING




Forcing customer to buy their product by using another company's image
Like recently there was an ad of skechers, trying to advertise their product by ruining the image of nike as we see in the picture. so it is clearly visible from the current scenario that the people and comapnies are using unfair marketing practices to advertise their products








ETHICS IN FINANCE: 

Ethics in general is concerned with human behavior that is acceptable or "right" and that is not acceptable or "wrong" based on conventional morality. General ethical norms encompass truthfulness, honesty, integrity, respect for others, fairness, and justice.There are many situations where you act without considering if it is ethical or not. For example, you would not think much of someone claiming personal traveling expenses as official traveling expenses to save tax

ETHICAL ISSUES IN FINANCE


1.Frauds in the financial sector- i.e credit card fraud,
insurance fraud, telecommunication related fraud etc.
2. Insider trading- refers to buying or selling of security, in a breach of fiduciary duty or other relationships of trust.









UNETHICAL ISSUES IN FINANCE



1.delays in paying wages, interest to financiers.      
2. opening of current accounts in different banks to    avoid adjustments against loans by earlier bankers.

Nirav modi cheated the Punjab national bank with unfair means and flew away and the other same example was Vijay mallaya(owner of kingfisher)
